Woodham Fest – The 70s Edition

This year Woodham Fest is commemorating the formal turf-cutting at the start of Essex County Council’s New Town of South Woodham Ferrers in 1975. Activities are happening in both Woodham Ferrers and South Woodham Ferrers. 

The festivities will include: Church fete, live music, pub quiz, vintage wedding dress display, family activities, children’s games, exhibitions.

Woodham Fest Quiz: The 70s Edition
The festival kicks off with a 70s themed quiz and prizes to be won! Teams of up to 6. £6 per person. Bring your own nibbles. Space is not unlimited! Register your team by emailing mikefogg@btinternet.com.

Saturday 28th June, 10am – 4pm

South Woodham Ferrers Library
Family Activity Fun
An opportunity to get hands on with craft activities and 70s themed toys and games. Explore the library with a special themed trail.(AII morning)

South Woodham Ferrers Local History Society: Exhibition and talk ‘The Promised Land’, 2pm
Talk marking the 50th anniversary of the turf cutting ceremony at the beginning of the South Woodham Ferrers ‘new town’ project.

The local WI groups present a display of artifacts and kitchenalia from the 1970s
Come and relive your memories and show your children and grandchildren how we used to live!

Sunday 29th June, 10.30am

St Mary’s Church, Woodham Ferrers
70s themed Family Church Service
Enjoy hymns and songs from the 1970s. Come in costume.

Live Performance by singing trio JUST US
Back by popular demand. ‘Just us’ sing hits from the 1970s.

All afternoon 1.30pm – 5.00pm
Vintage Church Fete
Enjoy delicious homemade cakes. stalls including a Tombola. books. raffle and children’s games. A Babycham cart plus prosecco stall. A Display of South Woodham and Woodham Ferrers in the past and a Wedding exhibition including fashion from the 1970s
