Buzz in the City is coming to Chelmsford from Saturday 5 July, transforming the city into a fun, free art space featuring colourful bee sculptures for residents and visitors to enjoy.
30 bees and 6 mini bee swarms will be installed across the city, creating an outdoor walking trail, allowing people to explore Chelmsford whilst taking in the unique and stunning designs.

Farleigh Hospice are looking for anyone interested in getting involved in the event through volunteering. There are several opportunities available for those who would like to be part of something amazing and help their local hospice charity.
The volunteering opportunities:
- Street collection and launch day assistance: The launch event will take place in Chelmsford High Street on Saturday 5 July. Helping at this launch event will involve working on the ‘Buzz in the City’ stalls, as well as collecting donations and raising awareness of the event.
- Pop-up shop: Working in the pop-up shop in the city centre, is a great way to connect with the public and see the buzz surrounding the event, as well as selling the unique, bee themed merchandise with all profits going to Farleigh Hospice.
- Bee watchers: Ensuring the bees around the city are well looked after and in perfect condition is important for the success of the trail and dedicated bee watchers will be on alert to keep an eye on their local bee sculptures and contact the trail team if anything is damaged or changed.
If you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch with the team at arttrail@farleighhospice.org
Farleigh Hospice is working with Chelmsford City Council and Chelmsford For You to organise this event and are buzzing to see the excitement this event generates. Even if you can’t volunteer, don’t forget to explore the trail for yourself from 5 July.
