St Cedd’s Day is coming up on 26 October, when we celebrate the patron saint of Essex. This year, Visit Essex is highlighting the many blue plaques to be found around Essex and asking residents to submit their nominations for a new blue plaque to be installed somewhere in the county.
Blue plaques honour the significant people, places and stories in our county’s history. You can find them across Essex, including many in Chelmsford such as one for the author and conservationist, J.A. Baker, and one to commemorate the Feminist and abolitionist campaigner, Anne Knight.
If you can think of a person or historic event that deserves to be honoured with a blue plaque – perhaps one for Turner Prize-winning artist, Sir Grayson Perry, or for witch trial victim, Blanche Worman, for example – then submit your suggestion now via the link. Nominations are open until 19 October.
