The u3a movement, founded in 1982, is a non-commercial national voluntary organisation which provides, through local u3as, life enhancing and life changing opportunities for people not in full-time employment. It does this within local u3as, giving its members the opportunity to develop interests, make new friends, and have fun.

South Woodham Ferrers u3a was founded in 2005, is a registered Charity and currently has in excess of 250 members. There are a range of groups to choose from or you can set up your own group.
