We recently celebrated our third AGM on Sunday, 14th June. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout of members. Thank you to everyone who came along! However, we still need more people to step forward to help us run our community hub. If you can spare some time, please get in touch.
The Big Move to Marsh Farm
Our major news is a planned move to Marsh Farm. We will pay a tiny ‘peppercorn’ rent there. This saves us from the horrendous £15,000 we currently pay! Once planning permission is cleared, we will work with the farm team to lay foundations for our new sheds.
When the base is ready, we will need volunteers to help assemble the metal garages that will form our new building. We will launch a community appeal closer to the time. If you can help—especially if you run a local construction company—please put your name down with us now!
In the Workshop
Stow Maries Council asked us to refurbish their town sign, but sadly, this project is too big for us to take on, but we are always open to other local commissions.
We love repairing things! People drop off all sorts of items, not just chairs and cabinets. We mostly stick to wood, but we will look at almost anything.
Top Tip: If your dining room chair joints are loose or cracked, don’t just squirt glue inside! It won’t hold. Bring it to us. We take the joint completely apart, replace broken wood, rebuild it, and clamp it securely.
Helping Our Local Wildlife
Our bird box production is still in full swing! Birds often have multiple broods in summer and need new nesting sites. Putting up a box now also prepares birds for next season. Why not try a starling box to keep them out from under your roof tiles? Or a three-section house sparrow box for birds that love company?
You might have heard that traditional bird tables can spread diseases. To fix this, we have redesigned a safer feeder.
