A Unique and Beneficial Website for our Community

Using a laptop to search the web

Michael Clark was the recent winner of our £50 give away and he entered by simply subscribing to our monthly newsletter. As Michael was unable to come and meet me he was happy to answer a few questions I sent to him via email, about the website.

How do you access the internet?

For detailed or serious searching, such as typing meeting minutes, I use my laptop. For casual searches—like finding contact information or chatting with family, friends, and acquaintances at church—I rely on my Android mobile phone.
In both cases, I start by Googling “Our Town SWF.” I prefer not to access any sites through Facebook.

How did you hear about the ‘Our Town’ website?

The website was mentioned during a meeting with all the churches in town as a helpful resource where people could find useful, relevant information in one place. However, as a very infrequent Facebook user, I found logging in to be quite challenging. It took the expert guidance of Wendy, the editor, over the phone to help me access the site and show me the various areas I could explore.

Did you find the website easy to navigate?

Once I got onto the website, the answer is a definite yes. I have added it to my list of favourite sites, so now I can access it with just one click.

What age group are you in if you don’t mind me asking?

I belong to the older age group, I am 84 years old.

Will you be encouraging others to use the site?

This site is designed for all residents of South Woodham Ferrers (SWF), and it is set up, managed, and staffed within SWF. It is unique and beneficial for our community, so I will definitely recommend it to my friends and acquaintances. If we don’t use it we will lose it, a message I want to pass on.
